While Shasta Lake supports a wide variety of boating activities, it is a top spot for houseboats. In fact, the lake is listed among the top 10 in the US for houseboats due to its calm waters and scenic views. Patio boats, also called pontoon boats, are popular on Shasta Lake for a relaxed boating experience. They are also a top choice for sunset cruises or watching the stars. Water skiing, a popular pastime on the lake, is made available through ski boats that can be rented or docked at the marina. Along with motorized watercraft, Shasta Lake supports human-powered boating activities, too. Reservations and Availability

Regardless of your preferred boating activity, be sure to check with the marina first to check availability and requirements. Some boats can only be rented or stored at the marina with the rental of a houseboat for the same time period. Reservations are generally required, and during peak boating season should be made well in advance. Members of the public can also obtain a variety of boating passes such as an annual boat ramp pass or launch pass, seasonal or annual boating pass, and a launch ramp pass. Annual boating passes are available through the Shasta Recreation Company. A pass can only be used at a public boat ramp. Although there are also privately-owned launch ramps on the lake, they are not available for use through a boat pass.
